family: parents and their children, any group of persons closely related.
friend: a person attached to another by feelings or personal regard.

"The whole is greater than the sum of it's parts."

What makes a house a home? Is it the food? Is it the smells? Is it the familiar rooms and views. Is it that comfortable old couch or the bed that's just the way you like it.
Or is it something more?
Is it maybe the sanctuary that your home provides.
The buffer and protection from the hustle and bustle of life outside.
Or is it something else?
Is it the love and support that comes from
a Family that accepts you with unconditional love?
Your mother and father who feed, clothed and protected you when you were unable to fend for your Self are the kernel of your Family. They kept and nurtured you. As you grew older, they coached and instructed you in the ways of their world. They gave you direction when you were unable to decide on a course of action for your Self. They provided the safe haven, the space, for you to grow into your own person.

Your Family provided the Centeredness and the Grounding for you when you couldn't provide it for your Self. As you get older and gain Confidence in your Self; You will define your own Center, and with Honor and Responsibility you will provide your own Grounding.

Friends are like Family in that they choose to support you through thick and thin.
Support you when you need a shoulder to cry on,
and stand up to tell you when you are wrong.
There is no more important decision than those who you choose to become your Friends.
There are those who will say they are your Friend, but words are just words.
Friends are those whose actions make them Friends.
Those whose actions cause you harm over and over are not Friends.
From these people you should just walk on and be on your way.
If someone treats you with dis-Honor... Run!

As your Honor has value, so too your relationships have value.
The value of a relationship is either positive or negative.
Embrace those Friends who add to your Honor,
and reject those people who subtract from your Honor.
Choose your Friends wisely, with great care and caution.
Those who are your Friends add to your life experiences.
Your Friends provide encouragement and support for your life's goals.
Friends are not required to support you when you sacrifice your Honor.

Having Friends requires being a Friend.
Being with Friends is like being at home wherever you are.
Kimness means having Family and Friends and,
never having to go it alone even when you are alone.

Mrs. Dr. Possible:

Kim Possible © DisneyDr. Possible: "A Possible has never had detention. Except your brothers... but they're little monkeys."

Kim Possible © DisneyMrs. Dr. Possible: "Do you want to tell us what happened?"

Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "I was a little late for class. It was no big. Unless you're Mr. Three Strikes Barkin."

Kim Possible © DisneyMrs. Dr. Possible: "OK. But finish your peas first."
Kim: "Your tough... but fair."

Mrs. Dr. Possible, Kim's mom, realizes that something is up with Kim.
Like any good parent Kim's mom makes the effort and inquires as to if anything is wrong.
Like most teens, even teen heroes, Kim probably would not have owned up to Her
mistake/predicament without some encouragement from mom.

No one likes to admit when they messed up.
Dr. Possible, Kim's dad, is able to provide a little perspective on the situation.
While Mr. Barkin didn't let Kim slide on Her Responsibilities, after She was
late for class for the third time, he treated Her as he would anyone else.
Mr. Barkin acted fairly towards Kim, treating Her like everyone else in that situation,
and Her dad pointed that out.

Kim's Family, mom and dad, provided two of the most important qualities that
a Family and Friends can provide.
First; They provided a sounding board for Kim to get Her problem off Her chest.
Second; They provided a third party perspective on Kim's situation.

Sometimes we need another perspective, an outside view when we are caught up in a situation.
Imagine a two legged chair. You are one leg. And your situation is the second leg.
Not very stable. When you try to sit on it, you will probably fall over.
When you let your Parents provide perspective a type of triangulation occurs.
This outside perspective, or triangulation provides you with the third leg to stabilize the chair!
Dealing with your situation no longer becomes a balancing act.
Your Parents are a valuable resource. Make use of them.

Be Like Kim, Don't Be Afraid to Let Your Parents Provide Perspective and Balance!

Kim Possible © DisneyDr. Possible: "I do not believe it. That Dr. Drakken fellow stole a factory. Seems two employees were rescued by world famous teen hero... Hey... Kim Possible. Nice work honey."

Kim Possible © Disney Kim: "Well sure... Until I let Drakken get away. I've got to figure out his plan before he tries to take over the world. Oh, and then there's the Josh thing."

Kim Possible © DisneyDr. Possible : "Josh? Another mad scientist bent on world conquest?"
Kim: "So Not. Josh is this guy I want to take to the dance."
Dr. Possible: "Ohh... Well... Don't you and Ronald go to school functions together?"

Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "Ya, but Ron's a friend and Josh is a hottie."
Dr. Possible: (clearing his throat.) "I wouldn't just give up without a fight... with Drakken I mean. Better get back on that case toot-sweet! And Kimy, lets not talk about hotties at breakfast anymore."

Kim Possible © DisneyMrs. Dr. Possible: "Who's a hottie?"
Dr. Possible: "We're not talking about it ."
Mrs. Dr. Possible: "So... This Josh is cute?"
Kim: "He's golden mom."
Mrs. Dr. Possible: "Golden? That's good right?"
Dr. Possible:
"Well I prefer it over hottie."
Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "Josh is so cool, and smart, and really talented, and kinda quiet."

Kim Possible © DisneyMrs. Dr. Possible: "Kimmie, telling a boy you like him is kinda like getting into a really cold pool... deep breath, then take the plunge."

Kim finds Her Self in a situation that She is unfamiliar with
and has little experience in dealing with.
Kim is crushing on Josh and She doesn't know how to ask him to the dance.

When we find ourselves in a situation that is new or find ourselves having feelings that we
have not had before, it is not unusual that we won't know how to deal with them.
Being Innocent of a new situation means that we are learning something new.
There is nothing wrong with that and that's where Family can help.
Almost always, something that is new for you will have already
been experienced by your parents.

While times change and situations may have new dressing, the basic interactions between people, and the feelings that develop as you mature,
are probably the same that your parents have gone through before.

Kim's mom gives great advice to Kim:
"Take a deep breath and take the plunge."
Translation: Have Courage and Confidence in your Self that you can do it.

This also demonstrates a Confidence that Kim has earned from Her mom.
Kim has earned Honor in Her mom's eyes and Her mom does not question Her choice in boys.
So Kim's mom focuses on a solution for Kim rather than focusing on the choice.
When your parents have trust in the choices you have made in the past
they will have Confidence in the direction you choose for your Self in the future.

It is a Confidence that must be earned through constant effort.
Kim's mom provides a little bit of direction, a little bit of a push,
and the little bit of a lift to help Kim get over this mountain.
Because of mom's experience, the mountain can be tackled as a mole hill.

Neither does Kim's dad question Her choice for a date.
(But he would prefer She concentrated on catching the super villain!)
While dad's words may at first blush, seem to be a bit discouraging towards Kim's dating,
they actually serve to provide a balance between one situation and another.
That is they provide perspective, a different perspective.
Looking at a challenge from more than one angle
can make what first seemed impossible,
Possible!

Be like Kim, Listen to Your Families Advice and Conquer Any Mountain!

Kim Possible © DisneyRon: "Let's go back to your house to watch wrestling so we can get psyched to watch wrestling."
Kim: "Not tonight. I'm going to the Cleopatra Closet Exhibit at the Middleton Art Museum. It's a special preview for Club Banana frequent buyers."

Kim Possible © DisneyRon: "You'd rather see some dead queens clothes than watch Steel Toe's Night of One Hundred Bruises with me?"

Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "My answer would have to be… Hello… Yah..."

Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "See ya..."

Later that night...
Kim Possible © DisneyRon: "So, how was the queens old clothes?"
Kim: "I barely got to see them. Right after I hooked up with Monique the museum got robbed by some glowing headed animal guy."
Ron: "Well that's nice… Wait a minute! Who's Monique?"

Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "New friend. Really great! Anyway the thief stole an enchanted ancient talisman."
Ron: "Whoa, how could I not know about a new friend?"
Kim: "I met her at Club Banana. Then again at the museum. Before I chased the glowing robber."
Ron: "So what's she like?"
Kim: "The robber?"
Ron: "The friend Kim. The new friend."

Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "Ron… Focus. There's a glowing guy running around Middleton with some kind of supernatural powers."
Ron: "Ok, Ok. Why don't we hit Bueno Nacho and you can fill me in."
Kim: "No thanks. Monique and I stopped for smoothies on the way home."

Later...
Kim Possible © DisneyRon: "Smoooothies. Since when does Kim drink smoothies? I'm seeing a pattern here Rufus. Kim does her thing, I do my thing, and pretty soon we're doing different things."

Later...
Kim Possible © DisneyRon: "Did Kim tell you that I'm her sidekick, 'cause that role is definitely taken."
Kim: "What's your problem. Your acting really weird."

Kim Possible © DisneyRon: "Well let's see. You went to the museum with Monique. Not me. Monique was with you this morning. Not me. Hmmmm, pattern?"

Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "Ya… You… Weird."
Ron: "We're drifting apart 'cause your excluding me."
Kim: "I am not exluding you. It's just that you and Monique are different."
Ron: "Don't forget Mayhem In Middleton tonight."
Kim: "These tickets are for you. I kind of already made plans with ah… Monique."

Later that night, Kim is having lattes with Monique when talking with Wade over the Kimmunicator She realizes the connection between the glowing robber and the GWA. (Global Wrestling Association) Kim apoligizes to Monique as She rushes off to find Ron at the GWA's Mayhem In Middleton.

Kim Possible © DisneyRon: "First I lose my best friend, then professional wrestling. Everythings ruined."
Kim: "You didn't loose your best friend."
Ron: "KP?"

Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "And don't worry, we're gonna save this… this, would you call it a sport?"
Ron: "The most excellent sport ever!"
Kim: "Let's take 'em down."
Ron: "I'd tag team with you anytime KP."
Kim: "This'll be easy."

When you choose to be someone's Friend it comes with obligations and Responsibilities.

Ron has been Kim's best Friend since pre-k.
But that shouldn't restrict Her freedom to have other Friends.
Kim has found a new Friend in Monique.
Ron thinks that it means the end of their Friendship.
However, Kim is able to have a new Friend without changing Her relationship with Ron.

Life would be boring if we were all cookie cutter identical.
Life is more interesting when it is multifaceted.
Thankfully not all friends are the same.
Different Friends have different things that they can share.
Different Friends have different interests that you can talk about.
Different Friends have different confidential things they like to share.
You can share different things about your Self with different Friends.
With different Friends you can do different things.

When you decide to accept new Friends in your life,
established relationships don't shrink, they grow.
Friendships, both old and new, can be the most valuable things you will ever have.
Protect your established Friendships while nurturing new Friendships.
New Friends not only add a new dimension to your life,
but they can add a new dimension to your current relationships as well.

As long as you choose your Friends with Responsibility and care, and in your best interest, new Friends can make your life more dynamic and more exciting.

As Your List of Good Friends Grows, Your Natural Kimness Will Perpetually Bloom

Kim Possible © DisneyWade: "RON!"
Ron: "Welcome to Bueno Nacho. May I Take your order."

Wade
: "Ron... It's Wade."
Ron: "Wade? Where are you?"

Kim Possible © DisneyWade: "Na-Not Important. Kim's in trouble. She found Drakken inside a cheese wheel. But I lost contact. She needs help! YOUR HELP! "

Kim Possible © DisneyNed: "Well Well Well... Looks like you've got a choice to make Stoppable. What's more important. Your sacred duty as assistant manager. Or your pathetic role as goofy sidekick."

Kim Possible © Disney                    Kim Possible © Disney

Kim Possible © DisneyRon: "Well, That's no choice at all. I guess it's time to say buenos noches' to Bueno Nacho."

Ron takes off from Bueno Nacho and heads off to find Kim in Wisconsin.
Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "Ron!"

Your Friends will understand and come through for you when you really need their help.
Not the type of help that is a matter of convenience.
But the kind of help that can get you out of a real jam.

Ron knows and trusts that their Friend Wade wouldn't exaggerate such a serious situation.
Ron also knows that if Kim needs help, She really needs his help.
Ron sets aside his new found love, working at Bueno Nacho, for the sake of his Friend, Kim.

Friends, in the sharing of experiences, come to understand each other's
priorities, needs and Responsibilities.
It is this mutual sharing, between each of you, of these three key Friendship components;
Priorities, Needs and Responsibilities,
that moves an acquaintance into the precious realm of Friend.

A true Friend will understand your Priorities, Needs and Responsibilities
and can equally weigh your Priorities, Needs and Responsibilities against their own.
When you, and your chosen Friend, can weigh these three key factors
and respond to them for the good of the relationship
you have become Friends.

Friends Will Set Aside What Is Important To Them When You Really Need Them!

Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "Come on Ron. Let's Jet!"
Ron:
"Ohhh yaa... Goin' to Tokyo on a school night! How we gonna get there?"
 Kim: "I'll phone a friend."

Kim Possible © Disney Kim: "Thanks for the ride Brittina."
Brittina: "Kim! Duh! It's the least I could do after you saved my Chicago show."
Kim: "Ah... That backstage fire was no big."

Kim Possible © DisneyBrittina: "For you maybe. It must be awesome not to be afraid of anything."
Kim: "Haa... Fearless I am not."
Ron: "Oh come on. I've seen you wrestle a shark with your bare hands."
Brittina: "Ya. What could scare you?"

Kim Possible © DisneyKim: "His name's Josh Mankie."
Brittina: "Oh... Crush Story!"
Kim: "I feel so ridiculous around him."

Kim Possible © Disney Brittina: "Just go for it. What's the worst that could happen?"
Ron:
"So... Brittina. As a pop superstar, I'll bet you miss out on things like school dances. With you know, average guys."
Brittina:
"True."
Ron:
"Friday. Dance. You. Me, Average Guy..."
                                Brittina:
"No."

Kim Possible © DisneyRon : "See. Was that so bad?"
Kim: "Only to watch."

Having Friends is like networking or like the internet.
If you could go to only one web page you would be very limited
in the information you would have.
With the internet you have virtually limitless resources to glean information.
When you go to a blog you can get the perspective of all those who post there.
Insights and information that might otherwise
take you hours and hours of research to get on your own.
When you post and contribute to the blog
you give others the advantage of your perspective and experiences.

Friends are like that too.
Friends can provide a perspective that you might not be able to get on your own.
Advice from your Friends, that is Honorable,
can help you when you find your Self in a situation that seems insurmountable at the time.

When you give your Friends the value of your experience, you contribute to their lives.
Situations that seem complicated can become simple,
when together with your Friends,
you work them out together.

Be like Kim, Network with Your Friends, and Problems Become Easy.
